The program is open to newsrooms based in any of the following countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
Because data impacts the entire newsroom, not just a single person or department, we’ve designed it to be cross functional. Participating newsrooms will need a team of three people to join the program:
- An editorial lead responsible for managing reporters, giving assignments and selecting stories that will need to be produced.
- A team member who works on data in some capacity or someone who can pull reports and present numbers with actionable insights to the editorial team. This can be (but not limited to) social media managers and audience analysts who already do some of these tasks today. This person must be fascinated with data and have the knack to identify trends and story in the numbers.
- A marketing or business development lead who can help your team navigate business goals and objectives and how editorial work impacts the overall business. If you don't have this role in your newsroom, you can tap another teammate who works on editorial or data.
We understand some of the roles/titles don’t exist in your newsroom and that’s ok. You can tap anyone in the newsroom who you think is a good fit based on the description above. This program is currently not available to individual or freelance journalists.
